Ladyfest
Olympia 2005 Donation Form
Ladyfest
2005 is an art and music festival that will take place from July 28th-31st,
2005. All proceeds after expenses will benefit local non-profits including
Safeplace, and G.R.U.B. It will be located in Olympia, Washington,
the historic birthplace of the Riot Grrrl movement and home to some
of the country's most energetic underground music and art scenes.
This festival will showcase and encourage the artistic, organizational,
and political talents of women. Scheduled events include musicians,
performance artists, films, authors, and visual artists. Participatory
workshops and panel discussions on current women's issues are also
an integral part of the festival. Ladyfest 2005 is organized by women
and features female performers, artists, and panelists. All are welcome
to attend.
Ladyfest 2005 is the homecoming of a phenomenal movement that started
here in Olympia with the first ever Ladyfest in August of 2000. This
first Ladyfest inspired over 87 other communities such as Dublin Ireland,
Monterrey Mexico, San Paulo Brazil, Berlin, San Francisco, New York,
Austin and to come together and create their own versions of Ladyfest.
Olympia and our powerful community of women created an event that
encouraged other groups of women to come together and organize like-minded
events. Very rarely in this world are women given the opportunity
to work solely along side one another to collaborate and explore what
we are capable of creating. We feel strongly that this experience
should be explored and are excited by the outcome of our efforts.
We also are proud of the wave of inspiration and influence that the
past festivals have affected others and ourselves.
The excitement and promise of Ladyfest 2005 is spreading though town.
Although it is still in its planning stages, Ladyfest 2005 has secured
performers such as legendary Barbara Lynn, Texas soul & blues
singer songwriter and active feminist. We want to expose our community
and the audience to women that inspire us and offer our support and
an opportunity for these great ladies to share and shine. In addition
to performances and art exhibits, there will be participatory events
such as political/educational workshops, open mics, guerilla art,
and opportunities for impromptu performance.
We need your support to make Ladyfest 2005 as diverse and exciting
an event as possible. We are seeking patrons to sponsor individual
events or to underwrite the festival as a whole. Please contribute
as generously and creatively as you can! We are interested in talking
to you about how you can most effectively assist our efforts. Our
in-kind wish list includes a computer for public use during Ladyfest
2005, sound system rentals, frequent flier miles, food, drink and
lodging for performers, and printing. Please call us if you have questions
or wish to discuss how your contribution can be publicly recognized
throughout the festival.
